My parents were both in their 60s and doing the best they knew how. Then I lost them unexpectedly, one year apart.
I loved my parents deeply. But after they were gone, I realized how many questions I had never thought to ask, how much information I didn't know, and how many things families are left trying to figure out while already overwhelmed.
We didn't know what we didn't know.
That experience changed the way I look at family preparedness.
